Introduction

‎This procedure will allow you to upgrade an apache2 installation to 2.2.20 under Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). Note this uses a PPA and Canonical will not support version 2.2.20 until Oneiric (11.10).

This should resolve issues with automated auditing tools spitting out warnings for CVE-2011-3192, CVE-2011-1928 and CVE-2011-0419.

Step 1 Add PPA

Add Phil Norbeck’s PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ptn107/ppa

Add the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ptn107/testing/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ptn107/testing/ubuntu lucid main

Step 2 Update

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Step 3 Check Versioning

Ensure that the correct version is displayed under your server tokens, either manually or via nmap, nessus, openvas or whatever your favorite vuln scanner is.
